About me

Hello! I’m Elena, an educator, researcher, and data analyst with a passion for improving learning outcomes in diverse educational settings. With 25 years of experience in the education sector, I bring deep expertise across teaching, administration, research, and consulting—shaped by a professional journey that spans multiple countries.

Originally from Barcelona, Spain, I currently reside in Maryland, USA. My professional journey has led me to work in various roles, from serving as the Data Acquisition and Analysis Coordinator at Berkshire Arts and Technology Charter Public School to conducting formative evaluations for the Gates Foundation or research for the Military Connected Education Coalition (MCEC). In these roles, I’ve designed data dashboards, created tracking tools for social-emotional learning (SEL) goals, and analyzed both qualitative and quantitative data to support educational initiatives.

I hold a Master’s degree in International Educational Development from Teachers College, Columbia University, where I specialized in policy analysis through the lens of data analytics and monitoring and evaluation techniques. My Ph.D. in Education Policy from the National University of Ireland, Maynooth, further solidified my expertise in addressing pressing policy issues in education regarding equity, access and governance within public education systems.

Throughout my career, I have also collaborated on projects funded by prestigious grants, including two Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (Kakenhi). My research focused on the study of education policies that promote social equity and the connection between educational achievement and access the labor market.

I am committed to leveraging my skills in data analysis and educational research to improve access to education, learning outcomes and drive academic success across the globe.
